After viewing the main building, we took a cab to the address Bill amazingly remembered as his Fraternity House. The cab driver found it easily as it was a short ride from the main campus. Bill looked at the building and was happy just to see it from the outside. I said to the cab driver keep the meter running, I want my dad to visit his old fraternity house. We got out of the cab, Sarah said she would hang with the driver and Bill and I approached the door to a beautiful 6 story townhouse that was the fraternity. I was not going to have Bill come this far and not walked through the building whee his first boozing days took shape and held so many memories. I figured I grab a fraternity kid and tell him Bill would like to see the inside of the building. . If he gave me any gruff, I would cuff him around and tell him show a little respect to a former legacy and fraternity brother. It was our good fortune to meet a great kid who took usinside up the stairs and got the fraternity President to show us around. That is what I call--RESPECT!
We proceed to go through the entire building with Bill recalling many of the public places that he use to hang out and relax with the guys. The inside of the building was a gorgeous 1902 structure with original woodwork and detail throughout the house, library, numerous fireplaces, inside columns separating rooms, pocket doors, marble stairs, beautiful wood floors. However, that is what it looked like through my eyes. Someone who has old building and has renovated building back to their original details, they had it like a shit house but after all they are kids having fun, away from home for the first time, Yep you could see what it was, and still is.
Bill was ecstatic as the President, Chris took us around floor by floor, including the basement party room explaining each room, who lived where and the changes the hose has gone under. We had an amazing time and more importantly Bill had a wonderful trip back to the time of his youth. I lost tract of the time we actually spent there and could care less that the meter was running on the cab. Some
