The evening.....

Our hope to have a nice quiet dinner went astray as a boisterous pre-wedding party took over most of the pub. Sarah and I always eat at the corner table in the pub. It is usually much quieter and romantic than the lovely dinning room. It is just a preference we got use to doing when at the Inn. Plus, Jack and Julie stopped by more often as they are always passing through the pub.

We started the evening with drinks. Bill found his favorite scotch on the menu Lagavulin as ordered a couple. Sara was non too happy with dad playing as she calls it, Mr Sophisticated Macho coupled with a cockiness as he orders and speaks about drinking scotch. I sit back and watch having been around dad, i know he regulates himself or at least when he is traveling with me. Sarah removed herself and went to the room to relax but I think she was annoyed at dad. This trip which I had hoped would be a wonderfuL experience for her to share with her dad at this time of his life has not turned out as i expected. Sarah seems to be stressed with worry for dad. I mean it is her dad. I understand and empathize with her feelings. I see dad as being fine, yes diminished in capacity from climbing Mayan ruins but quite capable of enjoying a trip. Sometimes, you have to let go and realize one you can ot control everything, and two, you can not keep telling a grown man what he needs to do. Especially, when that man is your father and all the psychological, historical emotions that come with that relationship. We all have faced it, we do the best we can. I wish she would realized she is going a great job in loving and taking care of him and his unwillingness at times to listen or do what she wants is just ---normal.

While the company was lousy the meal was wonderful. Sarah and the halibut, me the Haddock and Bill some crab cake. After dinner, Sarah relaxed at the Inn and I took Bill for a nice walk around town pointing out all the history makers along the road. I would check with him from time to time and He said, "my back feels great." we made it back to the Inn and all retired to our rooms.

About and hour or two later, i hear someone calling my name from below. Our room, the turret room faces the porch It was Jack wanting to know if I can come out and play. I got dressed walked down to the Passport Pub had a coffee as Jack introduced me to these two couples. One a French couple from Paris, who the woman is a fashion designer and the other a couple from Mexico City. I had a marvelous time, taking about travel, Europe, Italy and of course NYC.

The conversation broke about about midnight and Jack and I hung out for another hour or so to chat. It is was good omen to a great first day....
