I got everyone up early. Bill was excited about going to MIT. we spotted for breakfast at a local cafe. I have gotten Bill to love his Carmel Frappuccino with whipped cream to start the day.
We picked up his meds at the local CVS. Thank you Dr. McMeeking for taking my call while you were home with your wife last night and calling a Boston CVS for Bill's meds. The rest of the day, Sarah had the job of handleizing our the MIT visit. With limited maps but a lot of enthusiasm we hopped a cab a short ride to MIT.
The first building we searched and found was Simmons Hall. An unusual structure with interesting color scheme. The day was brutally hot. We walked around MIT and found ourselves walking along the Charles river. Bill was feeling very nostalgic and mentioned if we could just sit on the bench for a bit. Now the bench is overlooking the river but sitting in the blazing sun. After 5 minutes Sarah couldn't take it and said she was standing under the tree in the shade. Under normal circumstances a capitol idea, however when you travel with someone you need to experience some things with the person and through their eyes and experience. So we sat there sometimes quiet and other times doing our guy chatting. Bill decided it was time to move on so we continued up the river walk. At another section near the boathouse where Bill rowed crew he asked if it was ok, if he lay down in the grass. I saw the look on Sarah face like "What the F***. I shrugged my shoulders and said sure Bill let's take a moment. Thee was a bench for Sarah and I to sit down under a tree and Bill took to the grass overlooking the river like a modern day Hunk Fin with not a care in the world. It was actually quite serene and cooler. Sarah says to me, "Dad is going to fall asleep" I said oh well, we will come get him in the morning then seriously said so what when enough time has gone by we will get him up. I would look over at him eyes close, his head using his over the shoulder bad for a pillow at peace. I could visualize Bill in his youth taking a break from classes just relaxing with not a care in the world. I was happy for him to give him this moment.
Sarah and I planned what to do next. We decided to go to the main MIT building and then take a cab and find his fraternity house. We got dad up headed to the main building, grabbed some needed water and walked into MIT.
