I woke up in the middle of the night In pain and barely able to get to the bathroom. Overnight my ankle swelled up. Why or how i had no idea. I was just pissed off. Sarah woke up and a dump.i said, i do not want to talk about dad's health this, dad's health that ----he's fine! I'm the god-dammed broken down valise. Bill is doing wonderful, healthy as an ox. Want yo to start worrying about and taking care of me.
I went to my medicine bag and took a bunch of drugs to help with the pain and inflammation. Downstairs i sat on the porch and ran into Heather the wonderful, lovely young woman who we see year after year. She is always so good and gracious.
I ask for some ice for m leg and request that she please look in on me from time to time if i need anything so i do not have to walk around with my painful ankle.
The whole afternoon she treated me like royalty getting me water, coffee and snacks. Bill and i were planning to ride out in the car when i get a text from Sarah telling me I am not to leave the Inn, that i am to have my leg up and ice it throughout the afternoon. You want me to take care of you make you number 1, well forget about driving around exploring with your bad ankle. You are staying at the inn today and i don't want to her complaints. I said, ok, you're the boss.
Due to my ankle, we drove down to the harbor for a nice lunch overlooking the bay. The drinks are fantastic as well. Bill loved the ability to sit on the dock in the sun and overlook the water. After a long, relaxing lunch we went back to the Pentagoet of a nice afternoon siesta. I iced my ankle again and took some more prescription Motrin.
The evening begins at about 6 pm where we start with a cocktail in the Passport Pub. We sit for dinner in our favorite spot which is a corner table that consists of a church pew for two and two separate chairs jack and Julie find unusually pieces of furniture, photos, books, etc that fit that give the Pentagoet its unique charm. Bill usually retires at 9 pm and Sarah and I wait for dinner to be over and the real conversation beings in the Passport Pub. Their always seems to be a group of interesting couples and singles from all over the world staying at the Inn. Tonight we met these two couples from France and Mexico. The French woman is a fashion designer of some renown. All world travels so we had much to talk about. The Mexican gentlemen from Bolivia chatted me up about going to visit the Inca ruins in Peru. I can think of no better way to past the evening than drinking and talking in the Passport Pub.
