Today we decided it was time to take Bill on a drive through some of the smaller islands and inlets along the coast in Maine. Along the way, Sarah mentioned about dad seeing Nervous Nellies Sculptures. I have posted in the past about visits to Nervous Nellies and we revisit the place every year. The store sells wonderful jams and chutneys. Not that I know what a chutney is but I do know it taste good on crackers.
Stonnington is a small fishing village with some ice waterfront places to eat lunch. It is at the very end of Deer Island. The drive passes along some beautiful countryside and coastline. Dad really enjoyed the long ride. I say long because it is small 2 lane roads that you can only go so fast on, besides you do not want to go too fast because going slow is how you are able to enjoy the view.
After stopping at Nervous Nellies, a place where Bill had a wonderful time exploring the life like sculptures of castles, dragons, saloons, a blues bar and various characters along the way. However, ride got us into Stonnington a little after 2:30 which unfortunately Sarah's favorite restaurant closed for the afternoon. Sarah was not a happy camper. We had to settle for another place while having the same beautiful view did not have the same good food. She mentioned to Bill and I we are going to have to make it up to her. I know just the place where we that can be accomplished so stay tune....
