A New Day....

I did my usual up at 5 am routine, showered, dressed and headed downstairs. The hotel gives you a number of complimentary newspapers in the morning; the Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, USA today and the NY Times. I like to read the morning papers, so I grabbed a free coffee that they offer and went across the street to sit on a bench in the gardens and read. I could tell already it is going to be a scorcher of a day. Having finished reading the various papers I headed to the nearest Starbuck to blog. It has been my experience that usually the first day after you arrive somewhere everyone is tired so I let Bill and Sarah sleep.

Around 11 am and realizing Bill needed more rest, I went and woke Sarah and told her I would be back at at 11:30 to get some breakfast and then after we wake up dad. I skipped the hotel breakfast which was $26 for an omelet and we walked to a local cafe to grab something to eat. Sarah and I chatted about a plan for the day depending on how hot it got and Bill's condition.

We woke up the Bill and got him over to Starbucks for his favorite drink a carmel coffee frappuccino with whip cream and a pumpkin bread. I mentioned to everyone that while I was out earlier I came across this beautiful, historic church that would make a good site to visit. Our concern was that while Bill wanted to go to MIT, the heat index was climbing to 100 degrees. Everyone agree it was a good idea so we headed over to Trinity Church for the 2 pm tour.

The tour was conducted by a knowledgeable, articulate woman who explain the various architectural details, the stain glass windows and of course the artists, religious leaders and the history of the church and its importance in Boston. I have to say except for the strange reason of it being overly hot it was one of the beautiful churches I have come in contact with in my travels. I mentioned strange in regards to the heat because usually a church with its high ceilings and stone everywhere is cool when yo step into it off the street.

Me again, you just can't get those other two to pose. Is that a Church thing?
