The drive was somewhat uneventful if you count me reading the directions wrong and going half-hour out of our way uneventful. The drive itself takes about 5-6 hours or so depending on traffic. I took the first turn at driving. We made a pit stop along the way for something to eat. Bill had some wonderful eggs benedict, Sarah an omelet and me sunny side up. Now that you all know what we ate you can die happy people.
Sarah took over the driving as my stomach was upset for most of the ride. We arrived at our hotel, The Taj about 5pm. A absolutely gorgeous hotel overlooking the Boston Commons Gardens in Boston's exclusive district of old brownstones, high end shopping and gardens/parks. Only one of our room was ready so we decide to retire to where else---The Bar. I dropped Sarah and Bill there and spent some time talking with the hotel desk to squeeze what I could from them in regards to freebies.
I made my way back to the bar and Sarah and Bill already with drinks in hand. It warmed my heart to see Bill drinking his favorite scotch as I commented that it was good to see him back in the game. Despite the drive, he looked great. I ordered my drink as we all sat in the wood paneled lounge chatted and waited for our room.
After about 40 minutes or so, the kid from the front desk comes to our table and hands us our room keys. I asked him that due to the inconvenience of us waiting are the drink complimentary no sooner had I spoken when Sarah said "No, they are not free."
Jesus, i said when the guy left why are you saying no for the hotel? There are times when hotels inconvenience guests that give some perk. I said you are suppose to be on our side not the other side. Oh well, I shook my head, charged the costly bill for drinks to the room and made a note to remind everyone that when i am working angles to back my play. Actually, Bill already knows this and never says anything but that could be due to the fact he doesn't hear too well. No big think, we moved on to our rooms.
I decided to bunk with Bill as i made that room has 2 queen beds. Sarah has a king overlooking the gardens. Our room overlooks an exclusive brownstone street. The rooms are enormous. Tastefully decorated in soft yellows and off whites with hugh comfortable beds and big bathrooms.
It was decided to let Bill take a power nap for an hour then we would go for a walk in the gardens before dinner.
